Urban Encounter Ministries took root in 2019 on the Hilltop in Columbus, Ohio, as founder Bryan O’Donnell relocated to live alongside the very people he aimed to serve. This grassroots movement, steered by the Holy Spirit, focused on paired street evangelism—a practice that remains the cornerstone of our daily work. By 2020, we transitioned to a larger residence on Sullivant Avenue, embedding our presence in a neighborhood grappling with deep cycles of addiction and homelessness. This home transformed into a beacon of hope and spiritual connection. That same year, we debuted our training initiative, All Things to All Men, which has since evolved into Seeking the Lost, a training event designed to equip believers to share their faith within their own circles. By 2021, Urban Encounter welcomed its first full-time missionaries and established New Believers, a weekly gathering with a shared meal and transformative Gospel teachings. These gatherings now regularly welcome 50–60 attendees seeking spiritual renewal. In 2023, our ministry formalized a dedicated missionary program, with five participants pledging a year of service to the Hilltop community and active engagement at St. Aloysius Parish. Even as we recognize that our story is only just beginning, we look ahead with deep hope and expectation for all that God has yet to unfold through this ministry.
